Workshops:

Led by Peter Hessler, President of Construction Business Associates, the popular workshop, Power Plant Construction Management: A Guide to Survival, was held on Sunday, December 11th, 2011, as part of the week-long PowerGen conference in Las Vegas, NV. This workshop was geared towards those responsible for the financial success of power plant construction projects, both in the field and from the home office, and it was very well attended.

The next workshop is scheduled for August 14, 2012, during the CoalGen  conference in Louisville, KY. With today’s emphasis on the bottom line, we would like to encourage you to consider sending some of your personnel to this workshop. Now is the time to pencil it in on your calendar!

In the meantime, Peter will be presenting a paper titled “Keeping Your Shut-Down on Target” during the session on Outage Management at the Electric Power conference in April. He would love to see you there.

Outage Readiness Assessment

Published in the November 2011 issue of Power Engineering magazine is an article by Peter Hessler, president of CBA, focusing on outage readiness. The article describes four different approaches to determining if an organization is ready to shut down the unit and start the on-site work.  The reviews of these four approaches are based on actual stucies of various power generation owners/operators as well as the contractors they employ. You are encouraged to read and comment. This may even warrant a blog somewhere. We’ll see what kind of responses reult. If you do not have the print copy of the magazine, the article can be accessed using the following link:
