Workshops:

Led by Peter Hessler, President of Construction Business Associates, the popular workshop, Power Plant Construction Management: A Guide to Survival, was held on Sunday, December 11th, 2011, as part of the week-long PowerGen conference in Las Vegas, NV. This workshop was geared towards those responsible for the financial success of power plant construction projects, both in the field and from the home office, and it was very well attended.

The next workshop is tentatively scheduled to coincide with next year’s CoalGen conference, the week of August 19, in Louisville, KY. With today’s emphasis on the bottom line, we would like to encourage you to consider sending some of your personnel to this workshop. Now is the time to pencil it in on your 2012 calendar!

Outage Readiness Assessment

Just published, in the current issue of Power Engineering magazine, Nov 2011, is an article by Peter Hessler, president of CBA, focusing on outage readiness. The article describes four different approaches to determining if an organization is ready to shut down the unit and start the on-site work.  The reviews of these four approaches are based on actual stucies of various power generation owners/operators as well as the contractors they employ. You are encouraged to read and comment. This may even warrant a blog somewhere. We’ll see what kind of responses reult.
